Happy 10th Birthday to Us

Can you believe it? Double Dare Design turned 10 years old in February!

A lot has happened since we took off our training wheels a decade ago. We’ve completed over two dozen projects; an underground historical attraction; a discovery centre in the boreal forest; an obstacle course promoting power conservation; a one man show about lead poisoning. And more recently: a brand new science centre; an exhibit of First Nations artifacts; animatronic dinosaur exhibits in museums, science centres and amusement parks across North America; plus renovations to our local science centre… phew. That really is a lot!

Some things haven’t changed, though; we still aim higher, we still dream big, we still pull all-nighters, and we still love our day job. Thanks, Double Dare, for 10 years of wishes come true!

New Look, New Logo, New Site – that’s three ‘New’s’

Sorry for the pun, but we’re excited! After months of work and deliberation, soul-searching and navel gazing, we have given birth to a new look. It’s been a very rewarding process, digging though the archives of past projects and remembering the challenges that seemed impossible and the thrill of seeing people excited about the finished product. We’ve had the opportunity to work on excellent projects, with some amazingly talented people.  And we’re ecstatic to show off! Take a gander though the new site, and please, please let us know what you think. Shower us with unabashed praise or unload with honest criticism. We want to keep improving and we need your help to do that! Start a conversation with us on Facebook or throw some questions our way via email.
We’re done the reno’s and it’s time to host a party! Come on in, the water’s fine!

Double Dare Design at ASTC 2010

As if a new logo + website weren’t enough excitement around here, we’re packing our bags to attend this year’s annual ASTC conference. The line up of workshops this year looks fascinating, and we’re looking forward rolling up our sleeves and diving in. Of particular interest to us is a visit to the Bishop Museum, for whom we planned a Dinosaurs Unearthed! exhibit in 2009 and will be doing the same for March 2011. And did we mention it is in Honolulu? Hope to see you there!
