The Dare
To provide exhibit design support for a large science exhibit, enabling the development team to meet ambitious deadlines.
When Lord Cultural Resources was appointed by the Liaoning Province Science and Technology Museum to plan and develop the museum’s public spaces, and oversee the exhibit development of a 30,000 sf Children’s Gallery, the team needed all hands on deck. Double Dare worked with Lord’s team to complete the challenging assignment. The Outcome
To help Lord complete the rapidly approaching submission date, Double Dare was assigned the design of two distinct exhibition areas; a kinetic installation in the lobby and a series of interactive stations in the Children’s Gallery.
Working closely with staff, Double Dare turned Lord’s conceptual drawings for the lobby artwork into a detailed technical package that allowed the piece to be fabricated. “Flowing from the Factories” is a photographic series depicting local industry; the backlit images are propelled along three separate conveyors in the spacious entrance lobby.
Double Dare also assisted in the development of numerous science-based exhibits for the Children’s Gallery. We provided detailed designs for over a dozen interactive stations about light and optics. The 2,000 sf space included hands-on learning activities with light benches, optical illusions, and animation stations.
