Guests were able to walk through the province’s history, from geological formation to modern day. We worked on research and content development, thematic and spatial planning, construction, detailing, liaising with building and theatrical consultants, and oversaw prop fabrication, set decoration and scenic painting.
Storyeum was a theatrical historical attraction capable of handling 600 visitors per hour. During the 70-minute show, guests walked through nine historically themed environments, beginning with the province’s geological formation and traveling forward in time to modern day.
First, we refined HXP’s existing concept, working closely with the facility’s operations & story development teams. Then we worked on-site with the construction team to fast track the implementation phase. This allowed us to coordinate the efforts of artistic, theatrical and architectural consultants in a hands-on manner, on a daily basis.
We oversaw prop fabrication, set decoration, and scenic painting departments, ensuring that all artisans met the design intention of the facility. We also assisted in the theming/artisanal finishes for the foyer, including ticketing counters and associated mill work.
As a startup company with a very short timeframe in which to undertake the Storyeum project, we were forced to design and build concurrently. Double Dare Design, and Melanie Greenaway in particular, rose to every challenge. From detailed base building interfaces for occupancy permitting to subtle exhibition detailing, to close coordination with the theatrical team, Melanie moved quickly and efficiently through every step in the process to a successful on time and on budget completion for the project. I would be pleased to recommend Melanie Greenaway and Double Dare Design for any creative design assignment, from Graphics to Exhibition to Space Planning on projects large or small.Robert LaMarre VP Operations, Historical Xperiences
